Bread Machine French Bread (So Easy + Better Than Store Bought)

There’s just something about homemade bread that makes a house feel cozy.

And while sourdough will always have my heart, this bread machine French bread recipe is one of my favorite ways to make fresh homemade bread without spending all day in the kitchen.

The bread machine does most of the hard work for you, giving you soft, perfect dough with barely any hands-on time. After a quick shape and bake, you’ll have two beautiful loaves of homemade French bread that taste incredible fresh from the oven.

My family loves this recipe for dinner nights, garlic bread, sandwiches, and homemade French bread pizza. And honestly? It’s hard to beat making two fresh loaves for around the price of one store-bought loaf.

  • Easy enough for beginners

  • Soft inside with a golden crust

  • Uses simple pantry ingredients

Instructions

Step 1: Add Ingredients to Bread Machine

Divide into 2 equal pieces and shape into long French bread loaves.

Place onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 3: Let Rise

Cover loosely and let rise for about 30–45 minutes, or until puffy.

Step 4: Score + Bake

Use a sharp knife to make a few diagonal slashes across the top.

Bake at 375°F for about 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.

Tips

  • For a softer crust, brush with melted butter after baking.

  • This recipe freezes beautifully.

  • Leftovers make amazing garlic bread the next day.

  • Try using the loaves for homemade subs or French bread pizza.
